Challenges in Selecting Welding Filler Metals

I’ve been working on a project that involves joining dissimilar metals, and I’m finding it tricky to choose the right filler material. The metallurgical compatibility seems to be the biggest issue — especially when considering thermal expansion and corrosion resistance. Has anyone else faced similar challenges and how did you resolve them?

I’ve dealt with dissimilar metals too, and one thing that helped was using a filler material with a similar thermal expansion coefficient to the base metals. This can really minimize stress during cooling — have you considered any specific fillers that might be more compatible for your project?
