First day babysitting a cobot

Tried a UR10e this morning to run a 1/4" fillet with 0.035 ER70S-6 and it dutifully welded the fixture to itself while the actual part watched from two inches away. Two decades under the hood and I’m still laughing and learning — who else is switching into cobots or pulse MIG, and what trick finally made it click for you?

UR10e tip: I made it click by teaching an ‘approach’ waypoint 15 mm above the joint, then a quick ‘touch-sense’ move to find the part and back off about 1.5 mm before lighting up the 0.035 ER70S-6 — no more welding the fixture while the 1/4" sits two inches away. If you can’t wire in touch-sense, do a ‘dry run’ with gas on and wire cut to verify the path. Curious if you’re on a URCap for the welder or just Polyscope waypoints.
